Tutorial Altered Pencil Box

Welcome!

Today a new tutorial,  how I made a pencil box in industrial grunge style. It's a new upcycling project, because I use two gift boxes without the covers. I was on search for a new masculine gift idea, it should be practical and not so colorful.

before and now

For this project you will need:
gift boxes without cover

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Woven Burlap
7 gypsies Architextures FindingsTin Celing Tiles
7Gypsies Ordre Du Jour Collection Seize the Day
Canvas Corp Artsy Sampler on Kraft
DecoArt media Gesso white
 DecoArt Crackle Medium Weathered Wood
DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint Timeless
Sizzix Dies 'Gear'
Tim Holtz 'Paper dolls'
Inka Gold 'Hämatit'
 black textured paper
corrugated cardboard
chipboard 'Friend' + Embossing powder
metal embellishments
old bookpages + grey and black acrylic paints for inner part
glue
brush

add a thin layer of white gesso, let it dry

now a thick layer of weathered wood crackle medium

tear cardboard in different sizes and glue it on the sides

painted all with Chalky finish 'Timeless'

use gear dies with self adhesive texture paper

now start with decorating

use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and spray it about the whole project,
now the fine cracks of the crackle medium become visible

use a cut out from
7Gypsies Ordre Du Jour Collection Seize the Day, glue it on a piece of thick cardstock,
add with a 3D pad on front side
so it looks like a real drawer
I also use a photo from a little boy who is sitting on the box, a metall embellishment and a chipboard
with embossing powder
finally rubbed metall gloss paint 'Hämatit' over the rough surface using my fingers

 and the second box
the same procedure instead of corrugated cardstock
some pieces of old book pages
and variant decoration

Happy crafting!

Trick or Treat for CCB

Hello!

unusual technique - I worked with a glimmer glam paint on metal without a basic medium,
now you can see extending effects

In dem Eimer kann man sehr gut Süßes verstecken,
da er immer sehr aufmerksam beobachtet wird :-)

Habt einen schönen Tag!

Hello!

It's never too late ....
to have a good day!

A truly saying, or?!
if you come dragging in from work and you've had a miserable week,
just pick yourself up on weekend relax and
start with creating or other things that will make you a lot of fun.

Don't forget the time only for you!
That was my idea behind this easy and quick making
wooden frame.

used materials from Tattered Angels and other companies
can you see here

How I do this -

applying Modeling paste through the brick stencil,
 allow the paste to dry

use a mixture from Tinting base and texture paste
and  add a thin layer about the whole surface

coloured a piece of gauze with the Glimmer Glam 'Rustic'
glued on the bottom edge
together with the self adhesive 'Lady statue'

use Glimmer Glam 'Rustic' and a brush and painted the brick surface
it's a very awesome glimmer paint and perfect for projects in altered art

sprayed with Glimmer Mist 'Linen' for an antique look

finally use a metallic wax paint and distress all the edges with your fingers

now you can decide whether you will a like an old family photo
 or a saying
your choice :-)

DT Scraps of Darkness 'Attic Finds'

Welcome!

My next project with our awesome
I was inspired to make a new layout in vintage style.
It should remind  me on my dreams
in childhood in connection with the saying

''Every possibilitiy begins with the courage to imagine''

As I saw this great background paper 'Stenciled crates' from 7gypsies in our May Kit 'Attic Finds'
I was inspired to make a special effect with this old hand and so I decided
let them hold something.

I just cut a part of the hand and put a pencil and a pens on the paper,
the half hand was then glued over it.

I hope you can see it?
the awesome tree is a transparency print from my stuff

some worn effects with white crackle paste
and stencil 'Splatter' with walnut distress ink
from our kit
suitable for a wheathered look

two frames from the Architextures Collection 'Art wall'
fixed with Tim Holtz Hinge clips from our last months SOD Kit

I shared the adhesive book stickers in several parts
new Paper dolls from Tim Holtz were a perfect addition
together with metallic embellishments
from our kit

in connection with some wood affords
and paper 'Upper and Lover'
builded up
an old picture frame
it adds more dimension on my layout in altered art
Thanks for your visit!
Happy crafting!

DT CCB Antiques - Tutorial

Welcome!

I saw on my latest fleamarket visit a little, very old drawer. They show many signs of degradation.
Nevertheless I have liked this, because it was a very suitable size for a new(old) shadow box.
I remembered on the new Architexture collection, especially on this beautiful typewriter and I thought, yes that's the perfect combination.

used materials from Tattered Angels
and other companies

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Chocolate Brown
 Tattered Angels Baseboard Lava
7 gypsies Architextures Treasures Typewriter
7 gypsies Architextures Paper Market signs
Canvas corp Black & Craft French Linen Stripe
Canvas corp Artsy sampler of craft
old drawer
Tim Holtz Vintage Portraits
Americana Decor Creme Wax Brown
Acryl Media Fluid Black
Crackle Glaze
Distress stain walnut
some pins, one chipboard, rub on transfer,
embellishments (clock, glass, little book....)
old book page
decoupage glue

Scissors

 How I do this

I repaired  the backside and gave her a new coat of paint.
I used dark brown wax with a little bit black acrylic paint for the outer sides.

I glued an old bookpage with a decoupage glue.

 cut out your chosen motive

tear 4 stripes and distressed the edges with walnut stain

 glue it on the backfront

I added some spray and splatters for a more time-worn effect

the lettering Antiques is attached only to the outer two ends
now use the pins for fastening cutouts

for another wheathered look
I used a crackle glaze paint together with the two above mentioned Mist sprays

typewriter is self-adhesive, but I wanted this piece as a 3D element,
so I have used a small piece cardboard as a spacer

Then I have added a little wooden chipboard with a rub on transfer
and glued it behind this findings sticker
now it looks like a typed page

now you can added some little embellishments
just as you wish

  Happy weekend!
