GD Calico Craft Parts - Once upon a time

Welcome!

I'm back with a new mixed media fantasy project.
It's an artist trading block and my inspiration was a very romantic fairytale.
Can you guess what story I mean???
A little bit difficult, or?

...Lost in the forest, Belle's father Maurice seeks refuge in the Beast's castle, but the Beast imprisons him for stealing a rose. Belle ventures out in search for him and finds him locked in the castle dungeon. The Beast agrees to let her take Maurice's place....

How I did it:

before and after

Colour technique

  1. firstly a thin layer of water diluted grey and black acrylic paint
  2. Crackle Glace clear DecoArt on some places

Scrap FX - Autumn Day

Welcome!
I'm back with a fall inspired layout.

Nothing is more beautiful and peaceful
than strolling through the vibrantly colored forest in the silence of nature. It was a golden autumn day, mild temperatures and sunshine, we picked mushrooms and berries,
conditions for a perfect relaxing day.

Scraps of Darkness - Sunflowers

Welcome!

A new layout for the August
Scraps of Darkness Sparkle & Shine Kit.
I love sunflowers, they grow in my garden almost by themselves.

I used the paper sheet 'Stone Quartz' from Prima's Rose Quartz Collection, a wonderful contrast to the yellow flowers. So you can find in my layout only three colours black, yellow, white and metalic gold. I always love to use some products from 'older' SOD kits too, for instance chipboards, flowers and leaves.

I have also used a stencil from Kaisercraft with white modeling paste and golden metalic wax  in background it looks like some grasses.
The circle chipboard from Blue Fern Studios was in older SOD Kit.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate :-)

I hope you like this inspiration
and all the other wonderful projects of our teamies!
Have a nice day my friends!

Special Feature Boozybear products

Welcome!

Today I will share with you a project that was made with some chipboards elements from our
I think it would be interesting to show some simply embossing techniques
which are very useful for a project in industrial steampunk style.
I used a gift box from a 1 € Store as basic to make a new masculine mixed media gift box.

Before and Now

First embossing technique - Clockfaces
  1. use an embossing ink pad, but press the chippie not so strong on the pad, only a little bit
  2. you will reach a randomly altered effect, like a weathered look
  3. then add an embossing powder, here Burnt Copper Leaves from Emerald Creek Dare, I love this awesome marble effect

Second embossing technique - Wings
  1. start with a base coat of black gesso, let it dry
  2. embossed the whole chipboard with a gear folder through a Cuttlebug, Big Shot or whatever you have
  3. rubbed silver metallic lustre (DecoArt) over the rough enbossed surface using your fingers

some steps how I do this

some close up's

Hopefully you will now feel even more inspired
to create your own project with this amazing chipboards.
I'm very excited :-)

Happy crafting!

Summer Memories

Welcome!

Summer is over and the days are once again closing in. The right time to make a project with wonderful memories on the vacation days, a truly good mood project.
I was inspired from September Maja Designs Moodboard. You know I love the color blue in all shades and right - Every summer has a story -
Despite the many unpredictable weather can we looked back on some beautiful and very carefree days by the sea, even it was to little, but always a source of health and happiness.

I used a paper sheet from the Vintage Summer Basics Collection

Scraps of Darkness - Fly

Welcome!

Kerstin is back with a new layout for the August
Scraps of Darkness Sparkle & Shine Kit.
Today  you can see how easy it is to create with our month kit's.
The Kit's are so arranged that all the components fit well in color and style.

I used a Prima Marketing background paper from Prima's Rose Quartz Collection, stickers, black tags and the beautiful roses from this collection.
In our Elements Add On Kit you will find book pages Ephemera: Music, an amazing crochet trim, cardstock stickers and this awesome feathers, which I also used in my last layout 'Smile often'.

some close up's

Have you seen the 'Grace' sheet from Rose Quartz Collection, perfect for cutting out, or?!
together with some deco elements a wonderful addition to a black and white photo.

I still had a rest from this delicate feather and so I used a puffy sticker butterfly and the feather for a new smart highlight on this layout.

Happy crafting!

GD Calico Craft Parts - Nautical Frame

Welcome!
I'm so excited and happy to be invited to the Calico Craft Parts Blog
as a guest designer this month.
I was very impressed when I finally saw the amazing pieces from Calico Craft Parts in original.
They immediately reminded me of my time as a "woodworm" ;-)
yes, I loved working with wood -  mainly scroll saw projects.
Calico's wooden shapes are so filigree and I could never have done this with a jigsaw! And their natural shades are wonderful too.

As you may already know I have a soft spot for the sea with all its wonderful and mysterious creatures, and when I saw the wonderful aquatic and marine wood shapes at the Calico Craft Parts shop I was immediately inspired to create a new mixed media home decoration piece.

 Before and After

My base was an old simple plastic frame, but I fell in love with it
because it looks like a store window or a TV, right?!

How I did it:

Calico Craft Parts wood shapes used:

I chose old book pages and black tissue paper in combination with white crackle paint and some brown shades from a Glimmer Mist spray. A very easy technique but I wanted a wonderfully neutral and more subtle background for the beautiful wooden shapes. I only used very few colours -  a patina green, black, white and a little bit neon green for a magical effect, because the Galleon boat reminded me of the 'Black Pearl'
(you know what I mean?)  Yes, I admit it : I'm a big fan of the Pirates of Carribean stories.

some close up's

I highlighted the crab and kelp with just some little pearls and used  transparent gel as glue

I used the untreated Ships Wheel as a base and added the Galleon Boat  for a 3D effect.
I love to combine the various sizes of the wood shapes to create layers!

At the end of the process I decided to make one of my favourite sayings the focal element, but that
may well be exchanged with a photo sometime.

Done!

I am not a person of many words, so I would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU
for your invitation in the form of a small extra project on which I used
my absolute favourite among the Calico Craft Parts wood shapes:

in combination with the gorgeous

Thanks for your visit!
I hope this was a bit of inspiration for you!
I will return at the end of the month with a
new, spooktacular project and I hope you will then stop by again  :-)

Happy crafting!
